I'm too old...for the Marines.

That's right. They don't want me. I went to a job fair on campus today. It's not necessarily that I'm looking for a new job, it's the fun of going and talking to different people about different careers. It's a good exercise in keeping your mind open to different possibilities, it made me update my resume, and I made a few good contacts. I also went to see what was out there for our graduate students in nursing. So anyway - the age cut off for the Marines is 30 years. I'm finally too old for something. I find this very depressing. I spent most of my first 31 years being too young for various things. Now what's left? AARP membership? The Hemlock Society? What do I have to look forward to now?!!?!?

Smack My Ass and Take Me to Tijuana Flats!

It's been entirely too long since I've made a post. Months and months actually. A year even. In my last post, one of the ten things I missed most about Florida was a restaurant called Tijuana Flats . We have FINALLY been graced with the presence of this eatery in Charlotte! If you've never sampled what Tijuana's has to offer, you don't know what you're missing. Since I'm craving their delectable food HARDCORE at the moment, allow me to elaborate. To start, there's the Tijuana Trio, a never-ending supply of their fresh salty-garlicky chips with salsa, guacamole, and queso. For the meal, there are burritos, in three sizes...the regular, the Tijuana, and the Megajuana. I can't handle the Megajuana - it's just too big. I love the beef burrito, with lettuce, tomato, plenty of cheese, sour cream, black olives, and sometimes , when I'm feeling up to it, jalapenos.
